As the earlier books were based around carrier warfare, here a battleship becomes a key player. And this isn’t a repeat of the earlier war with the Squidies this is all new. Devlin is a character with a mission: defeat the Imperium and recruit has many alien allies as possible to help him do it.īloom’s imagination seems endless, as these three books each had a new story to tell. He refuses to allow those above him, Staas Corporation VIPs and their flunkies at the UN, to commit further genocidal acts as befell the Squidies in the earlier series. Not just a hero of the moment, of the immediate action, or the pertinent battle, but the man who idealistically leads humanity into the future. Main character Ram Devlin has stepped out of Harry Cozen’s shadow, emerging as a heroic figure. ![]() Having read the seven books which make up Bloom’s earlier The War of Alien Aggression, I can say he has topped them with the three books of The Liberty Fleet. ![]()
